One of the most profound and mind-blowing experiences I've ever had.
My entire life I've never read many books or even felt like reading books. I'm 36 years old and probably haven't read more than 15 books ever. I've always struggled to find motivation because I never knew what to read.
A few months ago I came across a youtube video in which a guy said how powerful it is to read books. He said to think of it this way. Somebody spends five years of their life researching a subject and then we get to read all that information in a few hours.
Honestly, I never thought about it this way. There was so much information in that sentence resonating with me. I love learning new things and improving on skills. So, in this moment I decided I wanna read more. I turned to my friend who was standing next to me and said, "Hey, I wanna read more".
I walked out of my room with exactly that thought in my head. "I wanna read more." I didn't think about what I wanna read, when or where it's gonna happen or how I'm gonna get something to read. I only knew, I wanna read more and that's happening.
Ten minutes later I'm at my favorite beach restaurant for a coffee and the second I walk in I notice a woman with a Kindle. Instantly, I sit down next to her and ask, "Hey, do you mind if I check out your Kindle, 'cause I wanna read more." Now, I'm inspecting her Kindle, looking at functions, design, etc, but purely observational. No part of me was thinking about buying a Kindle. Still, I just knew, I wanna read more.
Two days go by and I'm on my way to the beach restaurant again. I'm walking today. About a minute after I left I turn from the drive way of a dive school onto the dirt road leading to the beach. Suddenly, I stop, because I notice a book lying in the dust right in front of my feet. One more step and I would have walked straight over it. Curiously and with a degree of suspicion I look around. Maybe somebody just dropped it. But I don't see anybody. I'm the only one there. I pick it up.
"Of mice and men" by John Steinbeck. Ok,....I turn it over. The first sentence introduces the two main characters. Lenny and ... that's right... George.
What the fuck!
My mind tries to catch up and make sense out of this. First question in my head, "How was this possible?"
Well, I said I wanna read more, didn't I. Never did I specify when, what, how, or where. I only knew why I wanted to do it and that it's gonna happen.
Did I manifest this?
